The Edmonton Oilers added stability to their back end on Sunday, signing defencemen Shakir Mukhamadullin and Spencer Stastney to new contracts ahead of the 2026-27 season. Mukhamadullin agreed to a two-year extension carrying an average annual value of $1.
1. The Oilers now bolstered their left side-depth, which looked a bit iffy for a few months in the immediate aftermath of news of the Darnell Nurse trade. But the Oilers acquired Mukhamadullin in that trade, then quickly signed veteran Ryan Shea, and now have finished a contract with Stastney.
Spencer Stastney arrived in Edmonton last season, and now the Oilers defenseman will be sticking around for one more year.
The Oilers recently extended Jason Dickinson and now have their sights set on extending another unrestricted free agent.
